Are cats our pets or our masters who kindly give us the honour of entertaining them in our homes, and what about their nine lives?
The myth that cats have “nine lives” has been around for a long time. Even Shakespeare refers to the nine lives myth in his play Romeo and Juliet. There is also an old proverb:
“A cat has nine lives. For three he plays, for three he strays and for the last three he stays.”

I didn’t know the myth was cats have nine lives. I always thought the myth was cats have seven lives. I think it’s just a myth but, of course, they have an incredible ability to avoid accidents closely. I’m impressed about their jumps too.
Think of using the expression “by the skin of their teeth“.
