Well, this is an ambiguous quote, and one might interpret it to one’s taste. I am not sure what the author had in mind when he made this comment, but I for one do not agree with what appears to be the obvious meaning. Masks are usually symbols of cover-up and concealment and not candidness and transparency. So, I cannot imagine how you can give someone a mask to hide themselves behind and expect them to tell the truth. On the other hand, the author might have referred to the fact that shame won’t let people reveal themselves to others… Read more »
