On Avatars and Gravatars

vishnuIn Hinduism, an avatar is a material manifestation of a deity or god, when the Hindu god comes down to earth in a bodily form. The term is most often associated with Vishnu and his two avatars or incarnations, Rama and Krishna. He has four arms with a lotus flower in his lower left hand, a mace in his lower right hand and… but you wouldn’t want to know all those details, would you? Thanks ! I knew the concept of avatars but I didn’t know Gravatars. Personally I don’t have a Gravatar. I will have the opportunity to create one on this website. Thanks for the information.

This is very interesting! I knew the definition of avatar by the “Avatar” film, but I didn’t know an avatar in Hinduism has another definition. For Gravatar, I heard about it many years ago. And I completely forgot what a Gravatar was and why it is used. Now I want to use a Gravatar to get more time for other things!

This article is very interesting because we can learn a little bit about Hinduism which is a religion that we don’t often see in France, which is very interesting.
For the movie Avatar I already saw it a while ago now and it was really good.
It perfectly describes the human race with its desire to conquer at the expense of other populations just for their own interest.
For the gravatars I hadn’t heard of them.
I want to use them because I always use the same avatar on every site.

This text is about all the meanings of the word “avatar” in different cultures.
For hindus the word “avatar” means manifestation of something in another form, in the movie “Avatar” it’s the consciousness of one men who is transfered into a new body.
But in the world of Multimedia an avatar is an icon that represents the user.
