Do things go from bad to worse for the England football team? Only time will tell but, in Big Sam, they have now selected ‘to take us forward’ the go-to Manager you employ whenever you are languishing at the bottom of the league and need someone to save you from relegation. He has never won a trophy or championship and is now, hopefully, but don’t hold your breath, taking us to the World Cup.
I think football competitions may become for us something like the Eurovision song contest has. An event we wish we had not entered and hope that it, and the pain of it, will pass soon.

To my opinion, the go-to place in Lille if you want to try a welsh, is at “O’mulligan”, which is more an Irish pub, but it is the one that I prefer. Some of persons who live in Lille would prefer “Chez la vieille”. Otherwise, if you don’t mind driving, another go-to place, a little bit far from Lille but typically from this part of the north of France named “Flandre” is in Godewaersvelde. It is the go-to place to eat either a welsh or a potjevleesch. “Watch this space”, means that you must survey or follow very carefully, because… Read more »
Come on again Blandine! ☺️
Just to make you want to discover this wonderful place:
“La maison commune” in Hondeghem!
We eat wonderfully well and above all we are very well received; there are games, very good beers (and good wine…) and a great atmosphere!
Very very nice! I miss it…
For me, the go-to place is “HyperStar” when I need something which I could not find in a regular supermarket.
But I have a long list of go-to places in my mind, for everything such as book, shoe, dress, etc.
“Watch this space” means something will change soon. (This is what I got from my dictionary’s explanation and adapted it for this situation.)
BFS may not be the most avant-garde of managers, but I think he is better suited to the national team manager role that Roy Hodgson (the previous manager).
About cricket and baseball…
In Greenwich Village, we saw men who was playing pétanque. Just next to them some people was playing cricket. Well! Brexit doesn’t exist here! But Emmanuelle told me, “It looks like Cricket but it’s probably baseball, I don’t know.” (Sorry Philip for our ignorance about it).
In Lille, a go-to place to eat organic food is “La Source”, rue du Plat.
Is “watch this space” means “wait and see”?
Thanks, J.M. It may well have been cricket.
Lots of expats, commonwealth nationals, now living in New York play in the city parks.
I found this article:

Nottinghamshire, my home county currently head the 20/20 league. Not doing very well in the county championship though…
Thanks for the article, very long and very interesting. It makes me want to return in NYC to visit all the boroughs. We stayed 10 days in Manhattan, one day in Brooklyn.
From Brooklyn you can take a photo of the Manhattan Bridge, a picture you can find in many films, whose “Genius”.
Is the photo deliberately upside down?
I don’t think so! ;-) It’s not very easy to turn your lap top to see Emmanuelle in the right way! ;-)
I have the same impression, but I’m waiting Jean-Marc’s (or Emmanuelle’s) confirmation before editing the photo and turning it the right way up! :-)
It could be an artistic touch, you know… :-)
Even if I tried to make beautiful picture, there is not an artistic touch here… On the desktop of my computer the picture is right way. I tried twice without result. And I thought you will receive this picture the right way!
OK, it’s done! I rotated the picture. It’s no longer upside down. It’s now the right way up.
